How to Start an IM
To start an IM, just click on a Member Name or select "Send IM" from the member's Mini Profile.
You can also start an IM by selecting "Send IM" from a member's profile or from within your search results. Or, just double click on a Member Name within Messenger or Group Chat.
Once you've sent your first message to any given member, your IM will appear as a pending IM Request.
If the member you are contacting has an IM Shield set up, you will be prompted to answer a security question before your request goes through.
